Fort Riley
Fort Riley is home to the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One), one of the Army's most storied combat divisions, training on the rolling Flint Hills of north-central Kansas. Located between the college town of Manhattan (home of Kansas State University) and Junction City, the base benefits from a welcoming university community with excellent cultural offerings for a small city. The Flint Hills' tallgrass prairie landscape is unlike anywhere else in the country, and the relatively low cost of living stretches military pay well.
